[...] A few weeks ago I told you about my arrival, getting settled and first contacts with the ‘N’. Some of you have inquired about this mysterious group – who are they, what am I doing here? Although I can answer the second question, and will try to do so in this post, I will not disclose what group it is I am doing research among. This is for security reasons. The ‘N’ have received some harsh treatment in the past and me mixing with them and gathering data about that, well, I’m just not quite sure if the authorities applaud that.
Hi Anouska,
my research is focused on how processes of ethnic identification and community relate to feelings and experiences of security and insecurity among the N in Moscow.
I know it sounds a bit technical, but at the moment I'd like to keep it a bit vague. When back in the Netherlands, I will unveil the mystery of what group I'm doing research among!

Sounds interesting to live in Russia's capital. What will your research be about?

BTW: Mind that although it can be +18 degrees in March, it can also still freeze in May. When the central heating will be turned off, the heated tapwater will also stop. Hot water from the taps in many places in Russia will often only start again somewhere in June.
