Op de avond van de dag dat Griekenland met de overige EU landen een akkoord sloot over nieuwe leningen in ruil voor vergaande economische hervormingen heeft er voor het Griekse parlementsgebouw een grote demonstratie plaats. Duizenden mensen, merendeels tussen 20 en 40 jaar, protesteren tegen het akkoord. Dan liever uit de eurozone en uit de Europese Unie! Ze zien geen toekomst meer voor zichzelf in dit Griekenland dat zo hard moet bezuinigen om zijn schulden at betalen.

We hebben niets meer te verliezen, we zijn 30 plus en trouwen niet meer. We hebben ruzie met onze families. Ze vragen: “Heb je niets beters te doen? Iedereen kan je zien. Schaam je.”
“Ik heb iedere dag ruzie, maar met de tijd zullen ze het begrijpen”, aldus de 32?jarige Touria, een van de dertien universitair opgeleide vrouwen die al vier maanden demonstreren voor het provinciehuis in Berkane, een plattelandsstadje in Noord Marokko, nabij de Algerijnse grens. Ze zitten daar vier dagen per week, maandag tot en met donderdag, van 9 tot 18 uur, omdat ze werk zoeken.
Niet iedereen is het eens met deze actie.
