‘De relatie met Mugabe is hartelijk’, lees ik 9 juni in De Volkskrant terwijl ik in de trein zit. Aan het woord is Morgan Tsvangirai die begin juni op bezoek is in Nederland. Sinds februari 2009 dient hij als minister-president van Zimbabwe onder Mugabe in een regering van nationale eenheid. Hij noemt de relatie met Mugabe productief en legt uit dat ze vriendelijk zijn tegen elkaar. Hoe is het mogelijk dat Tsvangirai dit zegt over de man die hem jarenlang het leven zuur maakte door hem te laten oppakken, molesteren en aanklagen voor hoogverraad?
