The Beast Within

by M. Amin Esmailzade

Video project in ‘Future Anthropology’. In Future Anthropology, third year bachelor students present their thesis research in a creative and accessible way.

This video illustrates the struggles of newcomers trying to fit into a new society. It shows a beast trying to blend in but failing, symbolizing how difficult integration can be. This connects with my thesis, which examines how Dutch policies and bureaucratic hurdles prevent asylum seekers from integrating effectively. Both the video and the thesis highlight that integration is a complicated and often unclear process. Many newcomers get stuck in bureaucratic loops and face high social expectations, making it hard for them to truly become part of the society.
